• Visit the site yourself before taking a party.
• Tell students as much as you can about the site before you go.
• Plan what your party will be doing each minute of the visit.
• Tell stories, particularly in museums.

• Get students active -

                            stage a gladiator fight in an amphitheatre;

                            sing and act in a theatre;

                            murder Agamemnon in Mycenae;

                            run races in Olympia, Delphi;

                            attack and defend a Roman fort.
